It can be a wonderful thing when an old classic is remade for modern audiences. In current times, this happens quite often with video games, movies and even TV shows.
There's plenty of good reason for it, as it draws in younger viewers who are used to a certain look in various forms of entertainment, and they may not want to go back and play older games with more simplistic graphics.
Because of that, it only makes sense that game developers would want to keep great games alive by updating them to match modern video game appearances. Let's take a look at how they've done this for Link's Awakening, and what the game can, in turn, do for you!
The plot to Link's Awakening is largely a simple one, but that doesn't make it a boring one by any means. As Link, you wind up on the shore of the unfamiliar Koholint Island. As you explore the island, you'll have the chance to meet up with completely unique characters to befriend and fight.
Furthermore, you'll need to gather together magical instruments that will aid you in getting the attention of the Wind Fish. As you do so, you'll go through interesting dungeons, explore unique lands and a whole lot more. It's a favorite among many, and worth the time to play.
For the most part, you may have a good idea about what to expect from the remake of Link's Awakening. However, there are definitely going to be some new touches that are sure to catch the eye of old fans as well as those who have never touched a Zelda game before.
As you might expect from a remake of a classic game, the appearance is brand new. That takes this great game from monotones to a world of color with a fantastically adorable new style.
From the settings to the characters and even the enemies, there's nothing about the look of this game that isn't enjoyable.
What really makes a remake of a classic game fantastic is that it draws more fans to the franchise. While many older players are aware of just how great the early Zelda games can be, younger players may be unlikely to try them out when there are so many beautiful modern games out there.
As a result, some new flair updates the game and allows younger generations to enjoy the classic with a modern look.
There's no doubt that this is one that's going to draw in new fans of all ages, and it will keep Link and his adventures relevant going forward.
Fans of Zelda games know that Link has been portrayed in many styles, from the cute and childlike Link in Windwaker to the older version portrayed in the darker Twilight Princess, Link is a being of many different ages and styles.
Some may find that the adorable style is somewhat reminiscent of Windwaker, but with its own flair. The world of Link's Awakening has a kind of pure innocence to it, which is in comparison to the touches of darkness and sassy attitudes we can see in Windwaker.
This remake of Link's Awakening is another take on just how adorable Link can be. It portrays a younger version of the hero in a world that appears like something in a child's playroom, in an exceedingly charming way.
This is a game that proves that Link is lovable no matter what age or style he happens to be in a given game.
Another aspect that sets this game apart from other Zelda video games is the top-down perspective. As you play, you'll be looking downward at Link as if from an angle far above him.
That said, it's not directly above him so you will be able to see things like character faces and the like.
This view gives you a unique perspective of Link and the world around him. While it may seem like a strange perspective, it's one that you'll surely get used to as you play through the game.
It's definitely a choice that benefits the unique look of this game overall.
In addition to a gorgeous world, you're also sure to enjoy the unique look of the characters involved. Even those you may normally dislike can't help but be charming in this adventure.
Make sure to check them out if you haven't had a chance to yet!
Lately, Nintendo has been taking a turn into games that explore new looks that come straight from a craft room or toy box in a very unique way.
Games like Link's Awakening and Yoshi's Crafted World feature unique environments that are designed in a very charming way.
Link's Awakening in particular looks like a world filled with cute toys. Everything from the characters to the trees themselves look simplistic and toy-like. For this game, the look works very well. I know I'm certainly interested to get my hands on the game when it comes out!
It's likely you've never seen an octorok cuter than those you'll find in the Link's Awakening remake. There's nothing in this game that doesn't get to experience being adorable, and I'm sure the often-hideous enemies in the Zelda games appreciate a chance to be seen in a new light.
Essentially, if you're looking for a game that you can relax with, this looks like it's going to be a wonderful choice. The world is charming, the story is great and you're sure to fall in love!
Because this is a re-imagining of the original Link's Awakening, it's going to be the story you expect, the characters you love and the adventures that keep you playing for hours.
This is where the nostalgia sets in, and it's what will draw long-time Zelda fans into a Link's Awakening replay!
Naturally, this is a remake of a game already in existence. Because of that, you can largely expect the overall plot to be the same as the original. It's really just a new way to enjoy the story that so many of us fell in love with as children.
Because of that, those who know the older game will really be able to enjoy the nostalgia. For new players, the story will be all-new and well worth the playthrough!
If you've never played this game before, then it'll be an adventure that shows you just how versatile and lovable games in the Zelda franchise can be.
This is also going to be a great way to meet your favorite characters once again. Because the story is largely the same, it's highly likely that you'll spend some time around all of your old favorites like Marin and Tarin, the owl, Grandma and Grandpa Ulrira and much more.
Many fans of the older version of the game will certainly be interested to find out what their favorites look like in the new version. Some of these characters, you'll be able to see in the trailers and demos currently available. There's one thing I can tell you for sure - they're cute!
Along side the overall plot, you can likely expect the Link's Awakening remake to carry on the major events, plot points, locations and quests that you went through in the original. In some cases, it's possible that you might notice a few tweaks to certain aspects, but largely it will be the same.
That means you'll be able to explore places like Koholint Island, Toronbo Shores, Animal Village and much more. Furthermore, you can expect things like major dungeons to be present, allowing you to explore them in a world filled with color and style rather than monotone shades.
Because Link's Awakening will be coming with an all-new look on an all-new device, there are certainly going to be a few additions on top of the game you know and love. These new features are really going to open the game up to longer playability and enjoyment overall.
The new version of Link's Awakening will include some creative aspects for players. In particular, there will be a Dungeon Maker that allows you to combine different dungeon chambers in order to make one of your very own design.
Once you've polished up your dungeon, other players will be able to attempt to get through it, winning special prizes if they manage to do so. This is a great way to add onto the content in the overall game, as you can work through what will likely be an endless supply of player-made dungeons.
At this point, it nearly goes without saying that the look is going to be something completely different. This tropical land is going to be filled with color like never before, sporting characters and scenes that are re-vamped and ready to entertain new and old fans alike.
If nothing else, the unique design they've opted to use for the Link's Awakening remake alone is worth a playthrough. It's incredibly charming, and I think it's going to be a spectacular addition to the overall story. This is certainly one people are going to remember!
At this point, there isn't a large amount of information available for Link's Awakening. For the most part, players likely know what to expect from the story based on the older version. However, many are interested to find out what features from the old game will be included and which will be improved upon or adapted in a new way.
It's likely there are some differences we can expect simply from the move from the Game Boy to the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to the capabilities of the Switch, it's possible the game developers will add or change some content to suit the new device better.
There are many out there who grew up playing the earlier Zelda games. They are truly one of the great entries into video game history. In the new version of Link's Awakening, you'll be able to enjoy playing Link's Awakening again, with a look that is completely modern.
Something that newer players may find interesting in both older and newer versions of Link's Awakening is what appears to be touches of Mario-like aspects. Initially, you'll see in the trailers as Link wanders through the town that what appears to be a Chain Chomp is tied up outside.
Additionally, you can see some familiar mushroom-like faces hanging out in some of the dungeons. While in the Zelda game, the Chain Chomp is referred to as BowWow, the Goombas are actually referred to as Goombas.
It's an interesting way to see those well-known Nintendo characters outside the Mario universe.
At this point, it's uncertain whether or not there will be more Zelda game remakes, but I think it's likely. There are a lot of great games in the series, including the original Zelda, which have great overall stories and gameplay that could really benefit from a modernization. Here's hoping we get to see more!
We can expect to see Link's Awakening for the Nintendo Switch released on September 20th, 2019. In the mean time, you can pre-order the game through sites like Gamestop, Amazon and more if you choose.
Otherwise, just make sure to keep an eye out as the release date gets nearer!
This is definitely a game that is going to be worth playing through. The Switch has some wonderful capabilities as far as graphics and internet connectivity that the older version wasn't able to make use of.
As a result, it's sure to be a great experience for Zelda-lovers everywhere.
